Fight fans were graced with a night of exhilarating match ups on Friday, Dec. 29, as the mixed martial arts promotion Rizin Fighting Federation hosted a world grand prix for bantamweight fighters. The fight card decided the semifinals of the world grand prix, offering competitors a chance to face off for division dominance. With the exciting event of fights now in the books, the time has come to take a look at the event’s MMA results.

The day of fights was not without its issues, as heavyweight Gabi Garcia never made it to the tournament. The fighter was initially set to face off against Shinobu Kandori. However, Garcia came in 26 pounds heavy at the weigh-ins. As a result, the fight was pulled from the event. Garcia would go on to offer an emotional apology to her fight fans for the fight’s cancellation.

In the day’s main event, Kyoji Horiguchi earned a dominant victory over Gabriel Oliveira that had much of the local crowd on their feet. Before that, former UFC competitor Ian McCall’s unlucky streak continued as the fighter faced a TKO loss to Manel Kape due to being cut from the rope inside the ring.
