Bellator Fighter Pleads Not Guilty In $40k Bank Heist Case

Former Bellator competitor Sergio Da Silva has plead not guilty in recent bank robbery case.

Da Silva has garnered a record of 6-9 in his mixed martial arts career, having most recently suffered a submission loss to Matt Rizzo at Bellator 180. The fighter has since faced multiple charges in relation to the robbery of a bank in Astoria, Queens, NY.

August 27, 2017 a Citibank in the area was robbed by a masked man threatening to “shoot everybody” in the bank. Over $45,000 in cash was reportedly taken from the bank.

Da Silva has since faced charges for the incident, including 1st degree robbery while displaying a firearm. TMZ Sports has reported that Da Silva has plead not guilty to all charges.

Da Silva offered his fans a message concerning the situation days after the bank’s robbery. Taking to Facebook, the fighter stated:

“Crazy day to say the least. I am truly overwhelmed by all the love and support I have received. I got all the text , calls, emails, messages etc.

“Thank you to my phenomenal lawyer I’m home and my attorney is working hard to clear this up. As much as I would love to speak more about the allegations my legal team has rightfully advised me against discussing any details until the case is over.

“We are following all the necessary steps required. All I ask is for everyone to plz respect my family during this difficult times also plz understand my distance . I do not have my cell phone . Should have it in the next few days. I’m ready to cooperate and clear up my name.
