Top Ranked Middleweight Calls For 195 Pound Division Following Uriah Hall Scare

With the UFC being heavily scrutinized for the recent medical scare of Uriah Hall, thanks to their ill advised early morning weigh in policy, one top ranked middleweight fighter has a suggestion to help alleviate some fighter risk.

With six first round stoppage victories in his last eight fights, Derrick Brunson has now publicly suggested that the UFC add a 195 pound weight class.

This suggestion comes on the heels of Saturday’s Uriah Hall scare, that saw the fan favorite erupt into seizure and hospitalized following a weight cut gone wrong.

As far as we know, Hall is still hospitalized from the incident that UFC sweetheart Paige VanZant called, “The scariest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Derek’s plea is as follows:

All of these weigh cutting concerns. @danawhite let Brunson vs Jacare welcome the 195lb UFC TITLE in 2 weeks! @ufc @AliAbdelaziz00 ?⚔️?

Brunson of course is already scheduled to face the aforementioned Jacare Souza in the UFC on FOX 27 main event scheduled for January 27 in North Carolina.

The bout is also already scheduled for five rounds, the same as UFC title fights. However, it is unlikely the UFC will jump to add a new division and alter the fight’s billing.

Do you think the UFC should add more weight classes?
