Breaking: Cris Cyborg Steps Up To Save UFC 222, Will Defend Belt In Main Event

With UFC 222 losing it’s main event on just a month’s notice, the UFC was nearly ready to cancel the show, or make it a free on T.V. card.

Originally, the promotion wanted to replace the Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar bout with a new main event between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.

That fight fell through at the last minute, after Dillashaw held out for more money on his coaches advice, and didn’t get what he wanted.

Now, apparently putting her super fight against Amanda Nunes on hold, the world’s most dominant female, Cris Cyborg will step up on short notice and defend her world title in the main event.

According to reports, Cyborg has agreed to fight Russian import Yana Kunitskaya, who will move up in weight from the Invicta ranks in her UFC debut for a world title.

The UFC has yet to announce the bout as official, however, UFC president Dana White is expected to make the announcement on FOX Sports 1, this evening at 8:00pm.

UFC 222 goes down on March 3, from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.

Frankie Edgar, while losing his title shot and main event status, is expected to serve as the evening’s co-main event against Brian Ortega.

We are sure both bouts will be made official this evening.
