The UFC Gives In, Al Iaquinta Gets Nearly Five Times More Money To Return To Fighting

Riding high on a five fight winning streak, the man they call “Raging” Al, was dead set on not returning to the UFC’s Octagon until he got a better deal in place.

Despite the UFC offering him multiple fights, Al opted to not take anything until more favorable terms could be met.

The top UFC lightweight is 8-1 in his last nine fights, and hasn’t suffered defeat in nearly four years. He holds wins over UFC notables like Jorge Masvidal, Kevin Lee and Diego Sanchez and would likely be in title contention if not for the contract dispute.

Having not fought since early 2017, the New York based fighter decided to enter real estate to make ends meet.

Just take a look at this:

Now though, fresh off a new contract negotiation with the UFC, he’ll return to action on April 7, against Paul Felder.

According to Al himself, he went from getting paid $26,000 in show money with a $26,000 win bonus, to his new deal which is nearly five times as much.

Now, “Raging” Al will fight for $80,000 in show money, and a $50,000 win bonus.

It marks a significant increase, and it’s long overdue!
