Before He Was Champ, Watch Tony Ferguson Get Put To Sleep On The Regional Scene

UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has put on a storied career in the sport of mixed martial arts. A former cast member of The Ultimate Fighter, “El Cucuy” quickly made his way to the lightweight elite of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

That being said, they have not all been victories for the title holder. When the fighter was competing in the regional scene, Ferguson suffered a brutal defeat to Jamie Toney.

Back in 2009, Tony Ferguson went toe-to-toe with Jamie Toney at MMA at the Hyatt 3: Redemption. However, Ferguson did not last long.

The fighter suffered a first round submission loss to Toney after falling into a triangle choke submission. Now footage of the brutal finish has made its way onto the internet.

Check it out in the video above.

Tony Ferguson is now preparing to face off against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed title at UFC 223. The two will face off on April 7 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
