Scott Coker Kills Any Chance Of A Ben Askren Returning To Bellator MMA

Ben Askren is a welterweight phenom. Undefeated, the fighter went on to become a dominant welterweight title holder under the mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship. With that in mind, it would appear that Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has no interest in the fighter making a comeback under the promotion.

Askren is now semi-retired from the sport of MMA, having vacated his ONE Championship title. But, the fighter has been vocal about wanting a super-fight against the likes of UFC superstar Georges St-Pierre.

After a dominant victory at Bellator 198, Dillon Danis would go on to voice Aksren’s name as a possible target for his next opponent, though the fighter did not entirely call the former champion out. In a media scrum following the event, Scott Coker offered his thoughts on the matter. After all, Askren once competed under the Bellator MMA banner.

“Ben, I don’t really think wants to fight. “I think he wants to fight one more fight and be done with it. That’s what I understand.”

“We’ve got a big fight for (Michael Page) coming up in London. We’ve got a big fight for (Jon) Fitch and (Paul) Daley in San Jose on May 12. We’re going to keep these guys busy. I want fighters that are going to be here fighting.”
