Dern Confesses To Picking Night Clubs And Beaches Over Training For Her Fight

Mackenzie Dern is making headlines for having missed weight for her next octagon performance by a massive total of seven pounds. With that in mind, a new report is claiming that the fighter recently revealed that she is more interested in the beach or going to clubs than training.

Dern is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom. A former ADCC champion and a former IBJJF No. 1 ranked black belt, the grappling ace decided to try her skills at the sport of mixed martial arts.

While the fighter gained a reputation for weight management issues after missing weight for multiple fights, Dern went on to form an undefeated record of 5-0 before making her octagon debut.

Dern went on to defeat Ashley Yoder by split decision in her first match up under the banner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Now Dern is set to throw down with Amanda Cooper at UFC 224.

UFC 224 goes down this Saturday, May 12, in Rio De Janeior, Brazil. With the highly anticipated live pay-per-view event now only a day away, the night’s competitor’s have already hit the scale for the official weigh-in.

Only one fighter missed weight, being Dern. Coming in at total 123 pounds, the BJJ phenom has since been fined a total 30 percent of her purse for a catchweight match up against Cooper.

Now Bleacher Report’s JE Snowden has come forward to claim that Dern recently informed him that she allegedly intends to relax her training to make time for going to the beach and visiting clubs.

Check out the original report below:

“The thing is, Mackenzie isn’t trying to hide anything. When I went down there to do a story on her, she basically said that she doesn’t intend to train all that much. She prefers the beach or the club to the gym.”
