Even After Beating Thompson, Till Says “Wonderboy” Deserves Title Shot, Not Him

Darren Till moved his undefeated streak to 17-0 over the weekend. With that in mind, the Liverpool native has decided to offer his defeated opponent as the next fighter deserving of a title shot.

UFC Fight Night 130 took place on Sunday, May 27, inside the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Headlining the day’s card, Darren Till went toe-to-toe with No. 1 ranked two-time former welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

The two mixed martial artists went the distance, with Till ultimately earning a unanimous decision victory over his opponent. That being said, Till is quite aware that he missed weight for the match up.

Darren Till missed weight at the official weigh-ins by 3.5 pounds. However, Thompson accepted a catchweight match up against the fighter, saving the day’s main event bout.

During the post-fight press conference, Till mention in multiple occasions that he believes “Wonderboy” deserves a title shot, not himself. Till then explained that he needs to first prove that he can make the weight before challenging the title.

“He deserves an interim title shot more than I do. Hats off to him.” Till said.
