Two Former UFC Champions, and a Middleweight Removed From UFC Roster

UFC middleweight Eric Spicely is coming off of a three fight losing streak. Following the news, it would appear that the mixed martial artist has been cut from the roster of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Now the UFC is out three top competitors.

Eric Spicely most recently suffered a second round TKO loss to Darren Stewart. Now 10-4 in his fighting career, Spicely recently took to Twitter to reveal that he is seemingly off the UFC’s roster.

“Everything is finite. Is there life after @UFC? We ll find out. #ufc #mma #bjj”

Later taking to Twitter once again, Spicely responded to a reporter’s question on the matter by simply pointing out his three fight losing streak. The UFC has become nototious for cutting fighters on losing streaks larger than two fights.

“The dreaded 3 losses in a row.”

Meanwhile, former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida recently reached the end of his UFC contract. After knocking out Vitor Belfort at UFC 224, “The Dragon” became a free agent.

Machida has since singed with competing promotion Bellator MMA and is no longer on the UFC roster. Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett recently asked to be released from his UFC contract after growing distrustful of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Consequently, Barnett has also been released from the UFC roster.
