Breaking: Lyoto Machida No Longer Under UFC Contract, Reportedly In Talks With Bellator

Lyoto Machida is former UFC light heavyweight champion and a veteran of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). That being said, it would appear that the mixed martial artist may soon be transitioning into competing promotion Bellator MMA.

Lyoto Machida most recently went toe-to-toe with fellow Brazil native and MMA veteran Vitor Belfort in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 224. Machida earned a stunning knockout victory over “The Phenom,” putting Machida on a two fight winning streak.

Now portaldovaletudo.uol.com has come forward to report that UFC 224 marked Machida’s final fight under his UFC contract. Consequently, the fighter is currently under negotiations.

The news source, however, claims that the former UFC champion is currently leaning toward a possible signing with Bellator MMA over the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion. Still, the fighter has yet to lock in a new contract with either promotion.
