Conor McGregor Reportedly Not Going To See Jail Time Or Deportation, Plea Deal Down To “fine points”

UFC superstar Conor McGregor is currently facing a felony charge of criminal mischief and three misdemeanor charges of assault for an incident that took place on Thursday, April 5. Now a new report is claiming that “Notorious” is close to locking down a plea deal for the case.

Conor McGregor escorted a large entourage backstage of Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center on April 5. The large group then allegedly attacked a bus filled with red corner fighters for UFC 223.

The reported target was Khabib Nurmagomedov, who had a confrontation with McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov days earlier. Multiple individuals were injured in the attack, including UFC’s Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg.

McGregor eventually turned himself in to local authorities. The fighter’s first court date only lasted a few minutes, as the Ireland native’s legal team revealed to the court that they plan to pursue a plea deal.

Now TMZ Sports is reporting that prosecutors are willing to reduce the fighter’s felony charge to a misdemeanor and are willing to drop any jail time in favor of probation. Without a felony charge, McGregor would likely no longer face the possibility of deportation. The plea deal has yet to be finalized, but is reportedly down to the “fine points.”

At any rate, McGregor is due back in court this Thursday, July 26.
