Gunshots Fired As Crowd Brawl At Boxing Event Takes A Turn For The Worst

Boxer Curtis Stevens was in the Dominican Republic last weekend to face the country’s native Carlos Jairo Cruz. Stevens ultimately earned a fourth-round stoppage over his opponent. However, the fight did not entirely stop there.

Fans rioted over the event’s conclusion by storming the ring and charging Stevens alongside referee Steve Smoger. Gunshots were then fired within the building, though it is not clear at this time what precisely prompted the gunshots.

As reported by Boxing Scene, police eventually dispersed the crowd with tear gas. A reported 15 total people were injured in the fracas.
