Coming Soon — USADA Punishes Jon “Bones” Jones — Part II

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is nearing his second USADA hearing. With that in mind, the former title holder’s manager has now come forward with an update on the matter.

Jon Jones has failed multiple drug tests throughout his mixed martial arts career. Since the implementation of USADA, “Bones” Jones failed a drug test for UFC 200.

Consequently, the former champion was dealt a year-long suspension from the octagon. Jon Jones made his big octagon return at UFC 214 back in 2017.

Jones ultimately failed a drug test for UC 214 as well. Jon Jones has been fined $205,000 from the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) over the matter and had his fighting license revoked.

However, USADA has yet to old their hearing concerning the failed drug test. Jones could face a multiple year suspension, as this is the fighter’s second offense under USADA.

Speaking on a previous edition of The MMA Hour, Jon Jones’ manager Abe Kawa has come forward with an update on USADA’s hearing.

“It’s complicated. USADA does a very good job. People are banging on them and hating on them. There’s things I do not agree with with USADA. I’ve told them behind closed doors things I don’t agree with. But USADA does a very good job. They’ve done a very good job cleaning up the sport. It’s imperative that they get this right. It’s imperative that they get this case right, because of who Jon is. And I think they’re doing the best they can to get it right. With that being said, I’m confident that we will have a decision soon. I just don’t want to put a date on it and say, it’s gonna come down at this time, it’s gonna come at that time.

“There is a decision coming and it’s hopefully sooner rather than later.”
