Remember Tyson Griffin? He Just Returned From Retirement, Won, Then Proclaimed BJJ Is For P*ssies

Former UFC fighter Tyson Griffin had not competed inside the cage since 2014, until URCC Destiny came around. Following a unanimous decision victory over Jordan Bailey, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace offered a rather controversial post-fight speech.

As seen within the video above, Griffin stated:

“I’ve been fighting my whole f**king life. I didn’t know it, but I was using it as a form of therapy. As much sh*t that goes on here, as violent as it is, this shit really is therapy to a lot of people, and this is therapy for me. Sports is a place I can be happy. My dad’s been in jail my whole f**king life, and he’s right here cage side. He didn’t make it when I competed at Fight to Win, but…f*ck that Jiu-Jitsu sh*t; it’s for p**sies. This is where men are made, right here in this cage. This is where you test yourself, and you grow. This was about growth, and those guys that are booing over there, they’re staying the same. I don’t ever want to stay the same. I’m just going to keep growing in this cage, and I’ve grown in front of everybody, my friends, my family. And all these guys that are booing, I love you, too.”

Check out Griffin’s other thoughts on the matter within the social media post below.

“I want to thank @urcc_usa & @neeksrivera for giving me the opportunity to compete in my backyard in front of my friends, family & gym members from @pfmma. .”

“I didn’t know it when I first got involved with mma many years ago, but being that I was 204lbs, working construction and gave up on my dream to wrestle in college because school was too challenging at the time I guess I would say I was depressed. Once I saw the opportunity to compete for a living I realized my childhood dream of being a professional athlete was possible and I went all in.”

“I trained with and learned from some of the best fighters in the world which led to a lot of soft tissue damage that needing healing.”

“The nerve damage was the straw that broke the camels back and I’ve been using natural healing methods like Cannabis & CBD ever since to reduce pain, muscle spasms, inflammation not to mention helping combat the depression that comes along with nerve damage that nobody warned me about.”
