Khabib’s Head Coach Gives Conor Props For His Wrestling

Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will be facing UFC megastar Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 on Saturday, Oct. 6. The two fighters will be throwing down live on pay-per-view from within the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s head coach Javier Mendez has now come forward to reveal that he is not sleeping on Conor McGregor’s ground game leading up to the fight.

“He has to stand up with him. You can’t just go out and take Conor down. Conor’s a master too. He’s a great fighter for a reason. We know there is going to be some standup. There has to be. There is no way around it.”

“McGregor poses a lot of problems, if we fall into his game.”

“He’s also fantastic on the ground and people don’t give him enough credit, but I’m not underestimating his ground game.”
