UFC Moscow Breaks Record, Becomes Largest MMA Event In Russian History

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made its massive Russia debut on Saturday. Now it would appear that the event has struck a new record for the country.

The highly anticipated fight card for UFC Fight Night 136 took place on Saturday, Sept. 15, from within the Olimplyskiy Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Headlining the night’s event, UFC heavyweight knockout phenom Mark Hunt threw down with submission specialist Aleksei Oleinik.

As reported by MMA Junkie, the live gate for the event totaled $1.84 million with an estimated attendance of 22,603. The attendance total made for the fifth-largest crowd to attend a UFC event within the promotion’s history, UFC officials claimed. The event is also being reported as the largest MMA event in the history of Russia.
