Khabib To Irish Fans: ‘Conor’s grandfather killed your people’

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former two-division champion Conor McGregor are set to throw down this weekend in a battle for division supremacy. With that in mind, the Dagestan native issued a rather unexpected message to the fans concerning his upcoming opponent at the recent open workouts.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor will fight in the main event of UFC 229 on Oct. 6, live on pay-per-view. In promotion for the fight, both competitors recently performed at an open workouts event in Las Vegas, Nev.

When Nurmagomedov hit the stage, the fighter was greeted with a roar of boos from the predominantly Conor McGregor fanbase. Talking trash on the Ireland native and his mass of Irish fans, Khabib Nurmagomedov accused a member of McGregor’s lineage of killing Irish citizens as a British soldier.

“In three days, you’re gonna like me. You’re gonna like me in three days. I have question for Ireland. What about your language? What about Irish language? Where is your language right now? What’s wrong with your language?

“You guys change it? What about your language? Please someone can give me answer? You guys with England right now?

“This guy talks (about) them fighting against English but his grandfather, Christopher McGregor was with the English navy. And he killed your people. And now you guys support him. I’m gonna change this Saturday night.”
