Nate Diaz Calls For Khabib Fight In Absence Of Poirier

UFC superstar Nate Diaz was initially set to fight at UFC 230. After the highly anticipated match up fell through, the Stockton native is now looking to go toe-to-toe with the reigning UFC lightweight champion.

Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier were initially going to co-headline UFC 230 on Nov. 3, live on pay-per-view. However, Poirier was reportedly pulled from the fight after suffering an injury.

UFC President Dana White has since reportedly pulled Nate Diaz from the card as well. Now ESPN’s Ariel Helwani has come forward to report that Nate Diaz wants to fight reigning and undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I’ll just fight Khabib when he’s ready.” Diaz said. Khabib Nurmagomedov just choked out Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in defense of his title. Nurmagomedov then leaped out of the octagon and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis, causing a fracas among the fighters’ training camps.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has since decided to freeze Khabib Nurmagomedov’s $2 million payday until the investigation into the matter is complete.
