Denied! Jon Jones Shuts Down Possibility For D.C. Trilogy Fight | UFC News

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and reigning two-division champion Daniel Cormier have quite the history. That being said, it would appear that “Bones” Jones is not interested in a trilogy rematch.

Jon Jones issued Daniel Cormier the only loss of his career back at UFC 182. The two were then set to have a rematch at UFC 200. However, Jones was pulled from the fight after failing a drug test.

Following a year-long suspension, Jon Jones faced off against Daniel Cormier in their inevitable rematch at UFC 214. This time, Jones earned a knockout victory over his opponent. However, the result was overturned to a no contest after Jones failed yet another drug test.

Jones has now returned from his 15-month suspension and is set to fight Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 232. Daniel Cormier is expected to be stripped of his light heavyweight title at the beginning of the match up so that Jones and Gustafsson can battle it out for the belt.

Speaking at the recent UFC 232 pre-fight press conference, Jon Jones admitted that he has no interest in fighting Daniel Cormier a third time.

“There’s no reason to grant him a fight.” Jones said. “He got knocked out the last time we fought.”
