De La Hoya Reacts To Canelo Being Underdog To Triple-G

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is surprised that Canelo Alvarez is the underdog going into his fight with Gennady Golovkin.

Alvarez will fight Golovkin on Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

With just over a week until this highly anticipated boxing match, Golovkin, also known as GGG, is the betting favorite going into his title fight with Alvarez.

De La Hoya, who is promoting the fight, recently shared his thoughts on Alvarez being the underdog.

”People are now saying Canelo has a shot of knocking him out, although GGG is still the favorite in this fight,” De La Hoya said in a recent interview.

”It surprises me. It’s like 3-1. It’s just the relentlessness of GGG and the power. You’ve got to take a look at Canelo. He’s been moving his head and boxing a little more. Canelo has a little bit of waist movement. He can dodge punches a little better. Hopefully, it’s a close fight, and then you do it again because demand will be there.”
