Former UFC Champion Rashad Evans Announces His Return To Light-Heavyweight

It would appear that mixed martial arts veteran and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is making a return to the 205 pound division.

Evans transitioned to the middleweight division earlier this year for UFC 209 and UFC Fight Night 114. After facing close decision losses to Daniel Kelly and Sam Alvey, Evans has decided to return to the light heavyweight class for his next octagon performance.

The former champion broke the news to MMA Fighting. Speaking to the news organization, Evans said the following when asked when he will step into the octagon again:

“I need time to get my body back to size (and) healthy.”

Evans has earned a stunning record of 19-7 in his mixed martial arts career, with wins over some of the toughest fighters in the sport. Back in 2008, Evans beat down Forrest Griffin with a TKO stoppage for the light heavyweight title at UFC 92.
