Ever since Georges St-Pierre’s octagon return was rumored, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has been aiming his sights at the French Canadian phenom. Following the aftermath of Saturday’s UFC 217, Woodley has come forward with a call out for the new UFC middleweight champion.
Georges St-Pierre put on a dominant performance inside the UFC welterweight division during his career. On a 12 fight winning streak, after defending his welterweight title from Johny Hendricks in 2013, St-Pierre announced that he would be taking an extended break from mixed martial arts.
Now, nearly four years later, the fighter has made his octagon return. Rather than returning to the welterweight division, Georges St-Pierre made his middleweight debut at Saturday’s UFC 217.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made its second appearance inside the Madison Square Garden Arena in New York for the event, with UFC middleweight champion Michael Bipsing headlining the card in a highly anticipated match up against the French Canadian phenom.
St-Pierre managed to sink in a rear-naked choke on his opponent in the third round, earning the fighter a title winning submission victory over Bisping. Reacting to the recent fight, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley took to Twitter.
Here is what the fighter had to say:
“Let’s go @GeorgesStPierre no more running @ufc @danawhite”
