UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier took up the cage side commentating position at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 119 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During the champion’s post-fight interview of Colby Covington, Covington referred to Brazil as a “dump” and its citizens as “filthy savages.” While Covington’s statement has become a highly discussed degree of controversy, one fight fan had an issue with another statement from the night.
Taking to Twitter, a fight fan offered her thoughts on Daniel Cormier referring to a fight as a “firefight” during his commentating role.
Here is what she had to say:
“my husband served in the infantry, he’d appreciate you not using this term while commentating. It’s not an accurate term.”
Cormier responded with a seeming level of confusion.
However, former UFC competitor and active Green Beret Tim Kennedy has decided to offer his thoughts on the matter. Here is what the military sniper had to say on the matter:
“I think DC can say anything he wants and is an amazing commentator. I love it when guys in the cage get in firefights.”
Daniel Cormier was quick to respond.
