Joanna: “I Will Get This Belt Back”

Former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is currently getting ready to step back inside the octagon after going on a two fight losing streak. Now the former title holder has come forward to claim that she plans on getting the belt back.

Jedrzejczyk suffered a tough title ending loss to now reigning champion Rose Namajunas back at UFC 217, also bringing an end to Jedrzejczyk’s undefeated 14-0 winning streak. In their immediate rematch at UFC 223, Namajunas successfully defended her title by earning a unanimous decision victory over the fighter.

Now Jedrzejczyk is set to take on Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 30. The fight will take place July 28 in Calgary, Canda.

Speaking on a recent edition of The MMA Hour, Jedrzejczyk revealed that she still has plans to try to make it to another shot at the title.

“The judges said that I lost and I’m good with that. I’m looking forward and I know that I will get this belt back very soon. It was very close. Rose is the champ and I’m happy for her. I’m looking forward and I’m very happy to be back in the Octagon very soon.”

“I like to plan everything, so I have a big plan to get this belt back at the end of the year.”

“I’m very happy that I got the fight with Tecia Torres. The good thing is that she fought Jessica Andrade in her last fight. She lost that fight, but for 99.9-percent of people Jessica Andrade is going to be challenger for Rose Namajunas, so I’m very happy to face Tecia Torres and get the title shot after this fight. That’s the plan.”
