At Least One UFC Fighter Confirmed To Take Legal Action Against Conor McGregor

UFC megastar Conor McGregor made headlines on Thursday, April 5, for his unexpected visit to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Following the fracas that later ensued, it would appear that UFC lightweight contender Michael Chiesa is now looking to take legal action.

New reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov had a confrontation with SBG Ireland’s Artem Lobov just days earlier. In retaliation, Conor McGregor allegedly escorted a large entourage of individuals backstage of the Barclays Center on April 5 in which an attack on a UFC bus ensued.

While Nurmagomedov was not injured, several individuals on the bus where. Among them, UFC 223 red corner fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg suffered injuries that caused both fighters to be pulled from their respective match ups for the upcoming event.

Non related, Khabib Nurmagomedov was initially set to fight for the undisputed lightweight title in the night’s main event against Tony Ferguson. Ferguson, however, pulled out of the match up after suffering an injury six days before the title fight.

The UFC ultimately matched Nurmagomedov against Al Iaquinta for the undisputed title after stripping Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson of their respective belts. Chiesa has since voiced his opinion that he may have been able to fight for the title, if McGregor had not attacked the bus.

After all, Iaquinta was not ranked within the top ten of the division at the time. Speaking on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Chiesa has since revealed that he is taking legal action against McGregor over the matter.

“The wheels are in motion.” Chiesa said. “I’m doing what’s been advised to me and yes, there is a legal battle against McGregor”
