Weekend Co-Main Event Fighter Sage Northcutt Promises Finish In Return to 170

UFC superstar Sage Northcutt is currently gearing up for his big return to the welterweight division. While the mixed martial artists is undefeated within the lightweight class, Northcutt has come forward with a few words on why a move up to welterweight is a great thing for everyone.

Speaking to the UFC, Northcutt offered his thoughts on the matter.

“This is my first time ever walking around at my natural weight. I know it sounds kind of crazy and I’ve had two fights in the UFC at (welterweight), but both of them were under extreme circumstances.

“My first fight at 170 was a last-minute fight on three or four days notice where I was scheduled to fight at 155. My opponent broke his foot, so I moved up to take the fight at 170. The second fight, I never had a training camp or anything like that because I was battling strep throat.

“Not making an excuses, but I’m really excited to have a training camp for my first scheduled fight at 170. I think it is going to make a big difference.”

“It sounds crazy, but I don’t feel any pressure going into the Octagon; I feel excitement. I’m excited to go out there and win, beat my opponent up and put on a great show for everybody that is watching; that’s the biggest thing.

“I’m also excited to try what I’ve been working on over all these months of training at Team Alpha Male. I’ve had a year at Team Alpha Male and I think I’m just going to keep getting better and better and better.”

“I expect to go out there and knock him out. I believe that he’s not fast enough for me and I’m too strong for him.

“I’m going to knock him out or submit him. I’ve been training for the finish and I’m really looking to go out there and put on a great show for everybody.”

Sage Northcutt will face Zak Ottow at UFC Fight Night 133 on July 14 in the night’s exciting co-main event.
