Dana White Not Expecting Jon Jones To Make UFC Return This Year

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones failed a drug test for UFC 214 and has been sidelined ever since. USADA recently revealed a verdict concerning Jones’ anti-doping policy violation.

Jones has been dealt a 15-month suspension from the octagon, retroactive to the date of the drug test failure. Consequently, Jones will be eligible to compete again on Oct. 28, 2018.

Rumors have since been brewing that Jon Jones is being targeted for the main event of UFC 230 on Nov. 3, 2018. However, UFC President Dana White has now come forward to squash those rumors.

Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, Dana White revealed that he does not expect Jon Jones to make an octagon return until next year.

“Beginning of next year.”

“He’s been off for awhile. I think he’s a little heavy right now and he needs to start cutting weight and getting back into shape and we should see him early next year.”

“[USADA] had a third party independent investigator come in and investigate. They investigated and what they believe it was was contaminated supplements which is a huge problem right now. You have very few companies that actually make these products and they are putting bad things through the same silos as they are putting the good things through and yeah it’s contaminated supplements.”
