Former UFC middleweight champions Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman were initially set to face off in just a couple weeks. With the fight having since been cancelled, Weidman has now come forward with a statement.
Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman were initially set to co-headline UFC 230 on Saturday, Nov. 3. However, Rockhold pulled out of the fight after suffering an injury. Weidman has since been set to fight Ronald “Jacare” Souza at the event.
Taking to Twitter, Chris Weidman has now come forward with a pair of messages following Rockhold’s removal from the fight card. Check them out below.
“I am focused on this fight. I’ll be at MSG on Nov 3. Doesn’t matter who they put in front of me. I’m getting my belt back. My management and ufc will figure the rest out.”
“I was really looking forward to fighting Luke in this rematch but unfortunately it wasn’t in the cards this time around. This is a tough sport. I’m hoping and praying Luke makes a quick recovery and returns to good health.”
