UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier was initially set to welcome UFC superstar Nate Diaz back inside the octagon. However, the fight has since been cancelled.
Poirier and Diaz were initially set to fight in the co-main event of UFC 230. The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, from within the Madison Square Garden in New York. UFC 230 will go down live on pay-per-view for fight fans around the world.
Poirier, however, pulled out of the fight after suffering an injury. Consequently, the entire bout was nixed from the card.
Taking to Twitter, Poirier has now come forward with an update concerning his fight cancelling hip injury. Check it out below.
“So here’s what’s up for everybody asking
“I do not have to have surgery!! I’m going to stay in LA and get stem cell injections in my hip on Monday. From that point I will have a 3 week recovery. After that I will be able to go back to training 100%.”
