Frankie Edgar’s Boxing Coach Believes Conor McGregor Can K.O. Floyd Mayweather

The combat sports world has been buzzing at the thought of a potential bout between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and boxing great Floyd Mayweather.

Will it happen? It’s anyone’s guess but that hasn’t stopped the Boxing and MMA world from giving their two cents.

The boxing coach of former lightweight champions Eddie Alvarez and Frankie Edgar, Mark Henry threw out thoughts of a McGregor-Mayweather clash. Henry seen McGregor in action, up-close and personal when McGregor knocked Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 in November. The New Jersey marveled at the striking ability of the only UFC fighter to ever hold two titles at the same time.

“The swing that [McGregor] has is unbelievable,” Henry said to the Daily Star.

Many feel McGregor wouldn’t stand a chance in the boxing ring against Mayweather, whose 49-0 and regarded as the best pugilist in this generation while the Irishman has never competed inside the ring. But those facts didn’t deter Henry from going with the thought of “Notorious” knocking out “Money” if he can do it within the first couple rounds. If he’s unable to do that, the edge goes to the boxing legend.

“I think he would have the possibility of knocking out Mayweather,” Henry said. “He’s way bigger than Mayweather too. Boxers only cut about ten pounds, where as Conor probably walks around at 173 lbs.

“I even think he has a chance of knocking out Mayweather if it was in the first three to four rounds. After that, I’d definitely give the edge to Mayweather.”
