Conor’s Coach Continues Pursuit Of Nate Diaz Rematch, ‘He doesn’t stand a chance at 155’

It would appear that SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh is looking for the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz trilogy to take place in the lightweight division.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and division contender Nate Diaz have been toe-to-toe in the octagon twice before. Diaz choked out “Notorious” at UFC 196, while McGregor reached a majority decision victory over his opponent at UFC 202.

In a recent interview with Pundit Arena, coach John Kavanagh admitted that he is interested in seeing a third bout go down between the two fighters.

“For me the trilogy has to happen. That’s the fight for me … Definitely at 155 … (And) I don’t think Nate is going to have the same superpower he does at 170 — that ability to walk through shots. He’s done a lot of rounds with Conor and taken a lot of punishment — (and) there is a timeline on that. You can only walk through punches for so long. At 155 — I think he will struggle to make that weight, first of all — and if he does make 155 and Conor cracks him like that, I do think there will be a stoppage.”
