Dana White: “We’ve been talking about shutting down the flyweight division”

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and UFC President Dana White have not been on the best of terms as of late. Now, it would appear that Dana White has revealed that the MMA promotion has been considering shutting down the flyweight division.
After feeling pressured by the UFC president to take a fight offer against former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson provided MMA Fighting with a lengthy message against Dana White.
In the message, “Mighty Mouse” revealed that the UFC president allegedly threatened to end his division entirely. Now, Dana White has come forward with his thoughts.
In an interview, as heard in the video below, Dana White stated “We’ve been talking about shutting down the flyweight division for about three years. He knows that we’ve talked about doing away with that division, had nothing to do with Demetrious. And never once did I threaten him to shut down the division.”
