No Longer In The UFC, Frank Mir Wants To Fight Fedor Emelianenko

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion and mixed martial arts veteran Frank Mir has been released from the mixed martial arts promotion. However, that does not mean that the former champion is hanging up his gloves.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee of NBC Sports Radio, as transcribed by MMA Fighting, Mir explained that his split from the UFC was a mutual decision and that he has plans for the future. Among those plans, Frank Mir is interested in facing mixed martial arts legend Fedor Emelianenko.

Mir explained, “We had to come to terms on the situation and the end result was a mutual release. Right now I’m trying to weigh all my options. We talked about who could possibly be opponents out there, so I’m thinking, more or less, what show offers who to fight.

“Fedor would be an awesome fight. I think we talked about maybe even Brock. So there’s different ideas out there and really there’s just endless possibilities.”
