Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was initially set to face off against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 213. However, the night’s main event was pulled from the card on just hours notice. Amanda Nunes succumbed to health concerns.

It has since been revealed that Amanda Nunes claims to suffer from sinusitis. However the champion’s coach, Conan Silveira, has claimed that the heat of Las Vegas, Nevada may have played a role.

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Silveira explained that Amanda Nunes was feeling ill before the weigh-ins.

“She was already feeling it before the weigh-ins. Las Vegas is too hot, so I think that contributed to her chronic sinusitis, and the weight cut doesn’t help since you dehydrate. I don’t want to blame the weight cut, but it definitely doesn’t help.

“That has happened before, but we managed to come back, but it wasn’t as hard as this time. People don’t understand that that’s a big responsibility. You invest a lot to get to this position. You have to be 100 percent.”
