California Commissioner Vows To “Get To The Bottom” Of Jon Jones’ Latest Drug Test

Last week, it was revealed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones tested positive for steroid use prior to his fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.

The day before Jones fought Cormier in Anaheim, California, the U.S Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) collected a sample from Jones that later tested positive for the banned substance.

Andy Foster, the California State Athletic Commission Executive Director, recently did an interview with MMAjunkie and said Jones’ latest failed drug test didn’t make any sense. Despite Jones failing his in-competition drug test, his out-of-competition drug tests done earlier that month came back clean.

“This entire situation doesn’t make any sense to me,” Foster said. “It just doesn’t.”

Foster went on to speculate as to how Jones failed another USADA drug test.

“He’s either extremely careless, or he’s a cheater,” Foster said. “I know he’s already been extremely careless once in his career, but none of this makes any sense. That’s why I think it’s very important that we vet this and look at all the available evidence before we jump to conclusions and hang this guy out to dry.”

Foster later vowed to figure out exactly why Jones failed his latest drug test, and not the drug tests took just a few weeks prior.

“We’ve got to figure this out because this is just crazy,” Foster said. “We’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
