Coach: ‘Jon Jones Beat D.C. On Two-Day Old Injury’

It appears UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was injured going into his title fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Mike Winkeljohn, Jones’ striking coach, revealed that Jones was suffering from an arm injury going into the fight.

According to Winkeljohn, Jones couldn’t lift up one of his arms a couple of days before the fight. Jones had hurt his arm while wrestling. Due to the injury, Jones wasn’t able to do much wrestling training the days before he fought Cormier.

Regardless, Jones was still able to win back his championship at UFC 214. In the third round of their fight, Jones landed a brutal head kick, followed by punches on the ground, that resulted in the referee stepping in an awarding Jones the knockout victory.

Jones win over Cormier marked his 14th straight UFC win and his 11th win in a title fight.
