Masvidal Defies UFC’s Reebok Policy, Says He’ll Wear What He Wants Or Go Home

Jorge Masvidal is the type of fighter fans should love to watch.

Having come up in the same backyard circuit as Kimbo Slice, Masvidal is of the rare breed of man who is fighter before athlete.

Taking to his toughest test this weekend, again as a welterweight, Masvidal faces off with the striking expertise of Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

Should he win, the chances of a title shot are very realistic.

Ahead of fight night, Jorge Masvidal took part in Wednesday’s UFC 217 media day. And in his interview with Ariel Helwani, he revealed how he defied the Reebok dress code in favor of his own gear. Almost aggravated at the notion that the UFC pays him enough to dictate what he should be wearing.

This year’s return trip to Madison Square Garden is proof the UFC can still deliver a stacked mega-card, with all the bells and whistles.

Set to headline next week’s MSG card, Georges “Rush” St-Pierre returns to the Octagon for the first time in over four years. He will face off against the UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping in the UFC 217 main event, live on pay-per-view.

Also on the night’s fight card is a long-awaited title fight between Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw. And a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzerjczyk and “Thug” Rose Namajunas.
