It would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be welcoming a new competitor to their roster in the coming year. This time around, the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion will be welcoming former No. 1 ranked IBJJF competitor and ADCC title winner Mackenzie Dern to the team.

After taking the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by storm, Dern decided to start a career in mixed martial arts. Since then, the BJJ phenom turned fighter has gone undefeated. With five victories to her name, Dern most recently earned a submission victory in her Invicta FC debut against Kaline Medeiros.

Speaking to UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin, as seen in the video above, longtime UFC match maker Sean Shelby broke the news. While Shelby did not reveal a specific date for the fighter’s debut, the matchmaker did explain that Dern is expected to enter the octagon sometime in early 2018.
