Weekend Bout Cancelled After Olympic Gold Medalist Suffers Worst Testicle Injury In Combat Sport’s History

Felix Diaz is an Olympic gold medalist boxer with a budding career inside the squared circle. The pugilist was initially set to compete this weekend, but has since been pulled from his match up in Cancun, Mexico due to bruised testicle.

Diaz is coming off of a tough loss to boxing phenom Terence Crawford, giving the competitor a need to bounce back inside the winning column. Still, it would appear that a recent injury will be keeping Diaz out of the ring for a while longer.

Promoter Lou DiBella broke the news to ESPN, explaining how the boxer has bruised his testicles.

“He forgot his cup one day so he sparred without it and got nailed in the balls. It caused a real injury. He’s got badly bruised testicles,” Lou DiBella told ESPN. “He took a major shot to the balls without a cup and it caused a lot of swelling.

“We were trying to get Felix a fight before the end of the year. He’s been eager to fight. It’s a cringe-worthy injury but sometimes life’s a pain in the balls. He’ll be back when his balls are better, hopefully in January.”
