Tony Ferguson Indicates Conor McGregor Is Stripped, And He’s The New Champion

While an official announcement on the future of the UFC’s lightweight division is expected at today’s UFC pre-fight press conference, Tony Ferguson has just made it to Boston, and he’s calling himself the new champion.

Ferguson vs. Khabib is going down in the main event of UFC 223, and so far it’s been unclear if the two will fight for the interim or undisputed world title.

Of course, Conor McGregor is currently the undisputed world champion of the division. However, the UFC is wanting him to return to action soon, or they’re threatening to strip him of the belt.

McGregor though, has yet to touch on the topic, and as such, it is unknown what’s going on.

In theory, the men who are fighting, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson know what belt they will be contesting for, and they’re likely awaiting for the UFC to make an official announcement.

However, Ferguson has been hitting up his Instagram story with statements that he’s the new undisputed world champion. This would indicate that Conor McGregor has been stripped, or will be stripped this afternoon.

The UFC is expected to make their announcement on the future of the division, this afternoon, and we will be broadcasting the press conference live at 5:00 EST, on MMAimports.com.
