New First, Ronda Rousey Says She’s “Thankful” For Losing

UFC megastar Ronda Rousey has put on a storied career through the years. While Rousey has put on a series of dominant performances, the trailblazing mixed martial artist has had difficulty discussing her losses in the past. Now the former UFC bantamweight champion has come forward to discuss her defeat during the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Ronda Rousey first made waves within the world of combat sports when she put on a stunning run through the 2008 Summer Olympics. Competing in Judo, Rousey went on to earn the bronze medal. Taking to social media, the fighter has now come forward with a statement concerning the loss.

Over Twitter, Rousey stated:

“What seems like several lifetimes ago… my dreams of Olympic gold never came true, but time has made me thankful for falling short of gold #falldown7timesgetup8 #judo”

Ronda Rousey has not competed inside the octagon since suffering a devastating two fight losing streak to the likes of Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm. The former UFC bantamweight champion has rarely discussed the two defeats since, making it a rare occasion for Rousey to open up about her run through the Summer Olympics within the message above.
