UFC ‘s New York Card Loses High Profile Fight Due to Injury

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is currently looking to shore up new and exciting match ups for some of the promotion’s upcoming fight cards. However, it would appear that one of the most recently announced bouts set for the octagon has already been removed.

UFC welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Bryan Barberena were recently announced to throw down at UFC Fight Night 131. However, reports have since claimed that the fight is off.

Ellenberger has not competed inside the octagon since his vicious knockout loss to Mike Perry at UFC Nashville, motivating the competitor to rebound with a stunning performance against his upcoming opponent. As reported by mmadna.nl, the fighter’s opponent will not be ready to face Ellenberger in time for the fight.

Barberena is currently recovering from an operation that has left the fighter debilitated and in need of further recovery. Due to the injury, mmadna.nl reports that the fight against Ellenberger has been removed.

UFC Fight Night 131 goes down June 1 inside the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York. The event will be headlined by MMA warriors Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes.
