Tony Ferguson Just Declared War on Khabib Nurmagomedov

UFC lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson have been scheduled to fight and ultimately cancelled a staggering total of four times. Following Nurmagomedov’s recent title earning victory, “El Cucuy” has come forward with some critical words for the fighter.

With Conor McGregor not having competed inside the octagon since 2016, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) decided that “Notorious” would be stripped of his title once the main event for UFC 223 began. Initially set to headline the card, interim champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were set to war it out for the undisputed belt.

However, Ferguson injured himself just six days from the fight. Al Iaquinta, a fighter not ranked in the top ten of the division, ultimately stepped up on just a days notice to face Nurmagomedov.

UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway initially accepted the fight, but was ultimately pulled from the card as well. While Iaquinta was not a top ten contender at the time, Nurmagomedov and the fighter still battled it out for the undisputed title.

In the end, “The Eagle” earned a dominant unanimous decision victory over his opponent for the UFC lightweight title. Taking to Twitter, Ferguson now has a few choice words for the newly crowned champion.

“.@TeamKhabib You’re Fans Have No Manners… You’re Lucky I Wasn’t Able To Compete Due To Injury. Since You Like To Talk In The Cage I Would Have Made You Verbally Tap & Left You Crying For Papi In The 3rd. What A PaperChump, Eat It Casuals-Thee Champ #ComeFightMeNow”
