Usman Delivers On Promise, Defeats Demian Maia In Tonight's UFC Main Event

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Santiago, Chile for the first time this weekend to host the highly anticipated fight card of UFC Fight Night 129. With the night of fights in full swing, the time has come for the night’s big headliner.

In the night’s main event, former UFC welterweight title challenger Demian Maia is going toe-to-toe with Kamaru Usman in a battle for division dominance. The UFC results from the stunning match up can be seen below.

Maia earned a takedown on Usman early in the first round, but Usman quickly shot back to his feet. For the rest of the round, Maia pressured his opponent into the fence, as Usman valiantly held onto a whizzer to keep Maia from taking him to the ground again.

In the second round, Usman managed to stuff multiple takedown attempts from his opponent. The fighter then began to pummel Maia with a series of jabs. This was seemingly a big round for Usman.

Usman stuffed more takedowns from Maia in the third round, before beginning to walk down the fighter. Usman continued to pummel his opponent for much of the fight.

Early in the fourth round, Usman managed to drop Maia with a powerful punch. However, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom quickly recovered. The fight largely took place on the feet, in which Usman was seemingly getting the better of his opponent in the exchanges.

In the final round, Usman continued to seemingly dominate the mixed martial arts veteran. Maia managed to get Usman to the canvas on a few occasions, but failed to capitalize on the moments.

In the end, the fight went the distance.
