Ben Askren Says He’d Make “Wonderboy” his Wonder-Girlfriend If They Ever Fought

ONE Welterweight Champion Ben Askren believes he can defeat UFC title challenger Stephen Thompson if the two were ever to fight.

“Stephen Thompson, I’d do whatever I wanted to him,” Askren said on Chael Sonnen’s podcast. “He’d be my girlfriend if I wanted him to.”

Askren also talked about what would happen in a fight against UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley, who is Askren’s training partner and friend.

“It goes on of two ways,” Askren said. “I think this should be pretty obvious to anyone who knows mixed martial arts, but Tyron is the hardest hitter in the division. When his punches land, people go down. If he hits me and connects early and I go down, or otherwise, I’m able to withstand that initial barrage and impose my will. If there was one 170 pounder in the world who is the toughest fight for me, he’s it. His punching power and with his wrestling background makes it a really tough fight for me.”

Askren is undefeated with 15 wins. Besides being the current ONE welterweight champion, he is also a former Bellator welterweight champion. He has notable title wins over Lyman Good, Jay Hieron, Andrey Koreshkov, and current Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima.

Askren is scheduled to defend his ONE title on April 21 in Manila. ONE has yet to announce his opponent.
