Ultimate Fighting Championship made their return to Denver, Colorado which is the hometown to “UFC on FOX 23” co-main eventer Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Cerrone stepped into the octagon favored over his opponent Jorge Masvidal and while he dished out some impressive offense in the opening minutes of their fight, it was Masvidal who would leave with his hands raised in victory.
At the end of the first round, it appeared as if Cerrone had been knocked out and Masvidal was pulled off of “Cowboy” right when the horn sounded. Referee Herb Dean chose to let the fight continue as the round had ended, but Cerrone would only survive one minute into the second round after getting knocked out by Masvidal.
Cerrone did not get a chance to speak to his hometown crowd, but he has finally shared a message on his Instagram following his first loss in over a year:
“Take a load off Fannie
Take a load for free
Take a load off Anny
And you put the load right on me…”
