The Team Alpha Male Dozen — 12 Titles Won In 2016, Including 1 UFC Strap

The men and women of Team Alpha Male have sacrificed their blood, sweat, and tears to make that location one of the premier fight camps in the sport of mixed martial arts and it is all paying off, as expected. While casual viewers of the sport know the Sacramento, California gym to be the home of future Hall of Famer Urijah Faber and current UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody “No Love” Garbrandt, diehard fight fans know those two names only scratch the surface that trains under the roof of their gym every single day.

Head Coach Justin Buchholz has made it his mission to prove to the world that Team Alpha Male is the single best collection of fighters in the sport, and it’s getting increasingly difficult to prove otherwise:

January – June
UFC star Josh Emmett got the ball rolling for Team Alpha Male in January by bringing home the lightweight West Coast Fighting Championship. Hector “Kid Alex” Sandoval became the Global Knockout Flyweight Champion in March just four months prior to his UFC debut in July. David Klingsheim would go on to become the WFC 17 Champion in May just one week before Vince Murdock won the Total Warrior Combat Bantamweight Championship. Adrian Diaz capped off the first half of the year with another Team Alpha Male title win, this time bringing back the Taichi Palace Fights featherweight championship.

July – December
Lance “The Party” Palmer once again became the WSOF Featherweight Champion in July when he defeated Alexandre Almeida by way of majority decision. Andrew Coyne and Ricky Turcios both picked up gold, winning the No Limits Fighting Bantamweight Championship and Fury FC Bantamweight Championship respectively on September 11, 2016. Less than one month after winning the No Limits Fighting belt back to Sacramento, Coyne brought another strap back with him after becoming the Titans Cage Bantamweight Champion on October 30, 2016. DJ Roberson kept the ball rolling in November by winning the MTG Cruiserweight Championship just one week before Joseph Morales took home the Global Knockout Flyweight title. Owen Carr kicked things off right in December when he captured the Hard Knocks Fighting Featherweight Championship.

David Mitchell put the team in the right mindset just weeks before “UFC 207” when he brought the Final Fight Middleweight Championship back to Team Alpha Male headquarters.

Of course, the year was capped off with a phenomenal performance by Cody “No Love” Garbrandt who outstruck Dominick Cruz for five full rounds before becoming the UFC Bantamweight Champion.
