On Friday, in an interview on Facebook Live with USA Today, UFC President Dana White revealed how his last conversation with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor went.
“Conor McGregor and I spoke a week ago,” White said. “We were talking about things that could happen in the future,” stated the UFC boss with a sarcastic grin.
White then talked about a potential fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and McGregor.
“He would fight Floyd. He’d fight anybody. Conor McGregor is really that guy that will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. Yes, I believe he would fight Floyd Mayweather, but the odds of that deal actually happening… I don’t know. They’re about the same of me being Tom Brady’s backup quarterback on Sunday.”
Last Saturday, McGregor hosted an interview, which he sold live via online pay-per-view, where he said his next fight will be in a boxing ring. He also said he believes he will fight Mayweather either at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2018.
McGregor is currently taking a break from competing in the UFC due to his girlfriend being pregnant with the couple’s first child. It is unknown at this time what McGregor will do once he returns to combat sports.
