It seems like we are closer than ever to showdown between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor boxing pound-for-pound great, Floyd Mayweather.
Many are excited at the thought of the bout actually happening, but you can count UFC flyweight champ, Demetrious Johnson in the not excited category.
Johnson, whose at the Super Bowl festivities in Houston talked with Fox Sports and explained why he isn’t too thrilled at the potential mega-fight.
“For me as a sports fan and a fan of mixed martial arts and a combat sports fan in general, I’d like to see Conor defend his belt,” Johnson told Fox Sports.
If McGregor doesn’t do what the 125-pound titleholder thinks he should do, he feels the Irishman would have a good shot at dethroning Mayweather but at the end of the day, Johnson thinks the boxing legend will pull it out.
“I think Conor has a good chance to beat him,” Johnson stated. “Obviously, Floyd is a master of not getting hit and also he’s always good about fighting southpaws because he’s right-handed. I think Conor has a fight, but I’m gunna go ahead and go with Floyd.”
“Mighty Mouse”has won 11 consecutive fights and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Tim Elliot at The Ultimate Fighter Season 24 Finale in December.
